Sisters of St. Aloysius – St. Aloysius Convent MEGHPAL

The first community in Orissa  in the Diocese of Sambalpur was started on 18. 10. 2010 at the Invitation of Bishop  RT.Rev.Lukas Kirketta. He donated 2 acres of land adjacent to the parish house to  initiate our mission. It is a tribal village in the middle of a thick forest ,the people are very poor and illiterate. The first members  of this community were Sr.Valsa and Sr.Shanti. In the beginning 5 months sisters were  accommodated   in the Parish house meanwhile the sisters constructed a small house and after a simple blessing and Prayers the sisters started to stay there from March 2011 and  the  third member  Sr.Kiran also joined  the community.

The sisters live in a small house and visit the families, help them in educating and sending the children to different boarding’s ,They are also engaged in the pastoral activities of the Parish . This village is also surrounded with Maoist. Many people die every year with Malaria. As there is no medical facilities the sisters started a dispensary to cater the  Health needs of the People. Another  reason of starting this community was to promote vocations to our congregation. We have  few sisters from this Area.  The sisters work in collaboration with the center of the diocese for all  pastoral and social activities . The people are happy about the presence of the sisters and their services.
