Sisters of St. Aloysius – St. Aloysius Convent AMMAPATTI

This community  started On May 2010 in the Diocese of Madurai Archdiocese. This is the 2nd community of the Luigine in the state of Tamil Nadu.We were invited by the parish priest Fr .Jayaseelan M.S.F.S with the consent of the ArchBishop of Madurai. We were invited by the Parish priest who knows our sisters after consulting with the Bishop of Madurai Archdiocese.  It is a village thickly populated by the poor farmers  and daily laborers’ in the  Flower gardens. More than 1000 catholic families  reside in this village mostly traditional Catholics. There  are  also other Christian  denominations in the same village but they live in  harmony  and unity.

Our sisters are invited to take care of the pastoral activities of the Parish and to teach in the Parish school.  In  2009 land was bought 2.25  acres of  land  and registered in the  name of the congregation. The sisters started to reside in a rented house on 30-5-2010.  The sisters started
 to live  in a rented house  on 30’-5-2010. The presence  our sisters were very much appreciated in this village. Youth programs and childrens  programs were animated by the sisters.

The foundation stone was laid  for the new convent on7th September 2013 by the parish priest and the Regional superior  Sr.Mercy Joseph, Sr.Margaret ,Sr.Kumari and sisters of the community. Also The Provincial of Franciscan fathers  Fr.Babu jose and other fathers of o.f.m were present on this occasion. The Panchayat president and elders of the village were present for this simple function. The construction was completed in June and on 25th June the blessing and the opening of the new convent was held. On this auspicious occasion th eArchBishop His Grace Peter Fernando  concelebrated the Holy mas. The Regional Superior Sr,Jancy V.M, councilors and some sisters were present  for this  occasion. Many people  from the parish too Joined for  the  function.
